We investigate the light trapping properties of embedded dielectric nanospheres spheres in thin film solar cells. Design principles are inferred from numerical simulation and Mie theory. Maximum absorption gain in a 1.0 µm silicon film was found to be 23.5% using SiO2 nanospheres.
