Average Photon Energy (APE) index was used to characterise solar spectral irradiance and influence on double junction a-Si PV module. Detailed solar spectrum characterisation at the site evidenced an APE increment of 7% in summer with respect to winter. For overcast days an APE 10% higher than clear days was reported. Solar spectral dependence of double junction a-Si performance looks stronger than temperature dependence; no annealing effect was observed because the module temperature remained below 70°C.
