The use of real options theory can lead to the enhancement of the economic attractiveness of domestic photovoltaic (PV) projects. Additionally, it can facilitate the penetration of organic-based PV technologies for the generation of power in the domestic sector. This paper proposes a real options-based methodology with the aforementioned characteristics for the planning of domestic PV systems and illustrates the application of the methodology with several case studies based on the UK.
