The effect of dust on photovoltaic modules was investigated with respect to dust concentration and spectral transmittance. Total transmittance variation was identified for samples at different tilted positions that showed higher losses at flat orientation and higher transmittance variation at 30° tilt angle. The measured dust transmittance showed a spectral attenuation that affects wide band-gap thin-film technologies more than crystalline silicon technologies.
