The proposed method is based on the p–n junction recombination mechanism so that it can be applied to all kinds of photovoltaic modules and its performance is not influenced by weather conditions. The results indicate that the method can be used to simply and accurately estimate the maximum power point for thin film photovoltaic modules under various irradiation intensities and temperatures. Using the method will shed light on the optimization of the maximum power point tracking control model in photovoltaic system.
