Hollow PNIPAM-Ag nanocomposites were obtained by using hollow PNIPAM spheres as carriers for the in situ reduction of Ag+ ions. These nanocomposites show typical thermal sensitivity with a LCST of around 32 °C. More interestingly, this hollow structure renders the PNIPAM-Ag nanocomposite spheres as tunable catalysts with five stages of variation versus temperature.
