Degradable hyperbranched polymers with multiple alkyl halide chain ends were synthesized via a self-condensing vinyl polymerization approach using atom transfer radical polymerization and copolymerization of degradable inimers. One of the inimers contained the hydrolytically degradable ester group, and the other contained a reductively degradable disulfide group. The degradation of the hyperbranched (co)polymers derived from the former inimer was achieved by basic hydrolysis, and of those derived from the latter – by reduction with tributylphosphine.
