The design, synthesis, and characterization of a new tricyanate ester that is liquid at room temperature is presented. Thermal analysis of cyclotrimerization showed that the monomer could be cured to >96% at a temperature of only 210 °C. The resulting polycyanurate had a Tg of 305 °C. Hot water degradation tests of the polycyanurate showed that the resin's decrease in performance, “wet” Tg of 255 °C, was considerably less than that found with a commercial dicyanate ester.
