Hydrophilic dual-responsive magnetite/PMAA core/shell microspheres were directly fabricated through encapsulating MPS-modified magnetite colloid nanocrystal clusters (MCNCs) with crosslinked poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) shell via distillation-precipitation polymerization. The experimental results indicated that the obtained composite microspheres had well-defined core/shell structure, high saturation magnetization value, and abundant surface carboxyl groups.
