New electron-accepting monomer incorporating 1,2,4-oxadiazole as an electron-accepting moiety was prepared and copolymerized with electron rich N-aryl dithieno pyrrole-based monomer to afford P1. To extend the absorption of P1, thiophene-benzothiadiazole-thiophene and benzothiadiazole units were incorporated in P1 main chain to afford P2 and P3, respectively. P4 was prepared to evaluate the potential of the N-aryl dithienopyrrole unit of P3. Among them, P3 showed broad absorption and high photovoltaic performances.
