Novel PDMAEMA-based brush copolymers (PHEMA-g-PEEP)-b-PDMAEMA with biodegradable polyphosphoester side chains have been synthesized and characterized. At neutral pH condition, PDMAEMA segments would be partially protonated to produce some hydrophilic segments and possessed positive charges. Because of the chain entanglement and association of hydrophobic segments, the formed aggregates could condense DNA via electrostatic interaction and be served as a potential gene delivery vector.
