A number of in situ synchrotron X-ray techniques are reviewed. These techniques provide the capability for non-invasive probing of reaction kinetics and phase transitions involved in the formation of colloidal nanoparticles in liquid solutions due to the strong penetration of X-rays in liquids and abundant information that can be derived from the X-ray measurements.
