Colloidal InSb nanocrystals are synthesized by injecting stibine (SbH3) gas into a hot solution of indium myristate and dodecylamine in octadecene as described by Peter Reiss and co-workers on pages 828. Well-crystallized particles in the quantum confinement regime with a mean diameter of 8.8 nm and size dispersion below 15% are obtained. A synthetic pathway for the preparation of larger particles (∼100 nm) is also presented.
