The 4-methoxybenzyloxymethyl (MBom) group was regioselectively introduced at the π-nitrogen of the imidazole ring of histidine. Fmoc-His(π-MBom)-OH proved to effectively prevent racemization during its incorporation mediated by uronium or phosphonium reagents even in the case of the MW-assisted solid phase peptide synthesis performed at high temperature.
