From a viewpoint of practical applications of superconductors, the development of a theoretical framework which enables the quantitative prediction of not only the critical temperature (Tc) but also the critical magnetic field (Bc) has been desired. This article presents a promising first-principles scheme for calculating both Tc and Bc quantitatively, that is, the current–density functional theory for a superconductor. Besides the formalism, the present scheme also gives the exact expression for the exchange–correlation energy functional.
