To secure the Internet of Things in a cost-efficient manner, we need to build security and privacy into the design of even its most inexpensive components; viz. the, soon to become, ubiquitous low-cost radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags. To that end, we propose a novel, secure, and privacy-preserving tag management protocol that can support security and privacy policies to provide fine granularity and context-aware information control in RFID systems. Our proposal's inner workings are demonstrated through a near-future air travel scenario.
