In this paper, a combination of the OFDM-based wireless communication and the existing in-home PL system is proposed as a hybrid HAN for Smart Grid. The Monte-Carlo simulation results show that the proposed hybrid structure effectively enhances the performance of the HAN for Smart Grid, and the reliability is guaranteed even when the wireless channel is threatened by a PHY jamming. Moreover, SC is highly recommended as the receive diversity scheme for the hybrid system.
