A novel method for the fabrication of densely packed functional microprojections is reported. Using a dispersion membrane during casting facilitates uniform layering of projections on a micrometer scale. Vaccines are successfully delivered to mice, achieving strong immune responses. This is the first reported study on vaccine response using a dissolving microprojection array with an encapsulated vaccine.
