Fabrication development of nanochannels for DNA analysis in recent years (2004–2011) is presented. Various nanofabrication approaches for the formation of 1D, 2D, and 3D nanochannel structures are outlined, including conventional photolithography, nanolithography (nanoimprint, interference, electron beam, etc.) and other special methods. DNA separation, stretching, sensing, and transport are demonstrated in nanofluidic biochips with nanochannels.
