The electrical stimulation of neural stem cells is performed with a device composed of a carbon nanotube (CNT) rope, polymeric mold, glass substrate, copper tape, and wires. Scanning electron microscopy of the CNT rope surface shows a spiral topography. The interaction of the stem cells on a CNT rope indicates that neurites extend along the ridgelike structure.
