This work shows that BDNF and NTRK-3 were lower expressed in right frontotemporal cortex of anhedonic rats (vs. stress-resilient rats) in an animal model of depression, and expression of BDNF was lateralized to right in stress-resilient rats. These two take part in neural plasticity and were asymmetrically expressed in depression. The expression ratio of genes in right (R) and left (L) hemispheres of anhedonic rats and stress-resilient rats, as fold changes compared with controls, show that the difference between the two rat lines in level of expression reached the significance in BDNF and NTRK3. The difference in gene expression between rat lines reached the significance for BDNF (P = 0.037) and NTRK-3 (P = 0.041) in right hemispheres (starred).
