In a broad cohort of kidney transplant recipients, the authors find that the presence of C3 hypocomplementemia at months 1 and 6 correlates with the subsequent occurrence of infectious complications, thus opening new opportunities in the design of simple, clinically applicable strategies of immune monitoring in these patients.
