Fisher TNFα From Classically Activated Macrophages Accentuates Epithelial to Mesenchymal Transition in Obliterative Bronchiolitis American Journal of Transplantation 13

This study demonstrates that TNFα released from classically activated macrophages can accentuate TGF-β1-driven epithelial to mesenchymal transition in bronchial epithelial cells isolated from lung transplant patients and that anti-TNFα treatment improves forced expiratory volume in 1 second and 6 minute walk distances in a pilot therapeutic intervention in patients with bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome.
