Chemotherapy drugs induce ion pores across lipid membranes. Molecular dynamic simulations indicate that drugs and lipids experience electrostatic (ES) and van der Waals (vdW) interactions. These interaction energies (shown in Figure) are identical with energies that theoretically evolve from screened Coulomb and vdW interactions between peptides and lipids due to mainly charge properties while forming peptide induced ion channels in lipid bilayers.
