Inhibition of GABA transporters by β-alanine that possibly released from astrocytes increases GABAA receptor-mediated IPSCs and tonic inhibitory currents, leading to a decrease in firing rate of vasopressin neurons at the early stage of hypoosmotic challenge (A and B).
