The amplitude of Nb middle-latency auditory evoked potential was enhanced to pitch changes in relation to pitch repetitions both for pure tones and for complex tones with a missing-fundamental pitch. Relation of Nb to pitch processing was also indicated by effects of pitch on the peak latency and scalp distribution of Nb. These results indicate pitch processing at or near the human primary auditory cortex.
