This study contradicts with the conclusions presented at the latest consensus conference on cytomegalovirus infection and shows that preemptive therapy is associated with a high incidence of anticytomegalovirus drug resistance in donor-positive, recipient-negative kidney transplant patients displaying treatment failure and high peak viral load.
