Anosmin-1 promotes rat SVZ neuroblast migration via FGFR1 through the activation of the ERK1/2 MAPK pathway. The introduction of different missense, nonsense and deletion mutations within anosmin-1 annulled this chemotropic effect. We propose that the different anosmin-1 domains have distinct roles in the binding to FGFR1 and the function of the protein.
