Based upon the results from direct and competitive radioligand binding studies using stably transfected HEK293 cells and rat brain (caudate and nucleus accumbens) tissue, the novel tritium-labeled arylamide phenylpiperazine [3H]LS-3-134 appears to be a high affinity (human Kd = 0.06 ± 0.01 nM and rat Kd = 0.2 ± 0.02 nM) D3 versus D2 dopamine receptor selective (> 100-fold) radioligand that can be used to quantitate the expression and regulation of the D3 dopamine receptor subtype.
