The impacts of invasive alien plants on the functional diversity of communities were investigated using a large dataset, covering a range of both invasive aliens and invaded communities. Contrary to species richness, functional diversity was not reduced due to invasions, as successful aliens tend to differ functionally from native species of invaded communities.
