We found higher plant richness in introduced Pinus mugo-forest than native P. sylvestris-forest on islands in western Norway. Pinus mugo tilts easily in the autumn storms and generates open habitats for species associated with the historic pastoral landscape. Scots Pine forests are very homogenous and species richness does not correlate with the size of the islands.
