We examined the impacts of several earth surface processes on three primary vegetation characteristics, demonstrating that these processes are key drivers of species fine-scale distributions, species richness and community composition in arctic-alpine environments. Earth surface processes varied in their effects and relative influences, and thus multiple processes should be considered when examining species- and community-level vegetation properties.
