Using a spatially-explicit model, we consider how stress and disturbance – operating alone or together – can affect species distributions through varying biotic interactions. Increasing the impact of facilitation promoted the persistence of plant communities beyond the limits of the Grime's C-S-R triangle and drove the displacement of hot-spots of diversity.
