Kazuharu Mizuno and Tomohiro Fujita Vegetation succession on Mt. Kenya in relation to glacial fluctuation and global warming Journal of Vegetation Science 25
The Tyndall Glacier on Mt. Kenya is diminishing rapidly and may soon disappear completely. The temperature at Mt. Kenya increased by >2 °C from 1963 to 2011. Our study from 1992 to 2011 investigates vegetation succession where the first pioneer species, Senecio keniophytum, are advancing in close spatial correlation with rapid glacial recession.
