Marta Carboni, Alicia T.R. Acosta and Carlo Ricotta Are differences in functional diversity among plant communities on Mediterranean coastal dunes driven by their phylogenetic history? Journal of Vegetation Science 24
To what extent community-level variability in species function is driven by phylogenetic history has rarely been explored in terms of composition and diversity. Here we tested if differences in community functional composition/diversity along a sea-inland environmental gradient on Italian coasts mirror differences in phylogenetic structure. We found that phylogeny could only partially capture the turnover in functional community structure.
