2013_33/2013Selective Confinement of Ruthenium Nanoparticles in Silica Nanotubes (Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. 33/2013)

The cover picture shows the synthesis strategy for the selective confinement of ruthenium nanoparticles inside silica nanotubes. Oxidized carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are used as template, and ruthenium is loaded on this support to produce the Ru/CNT samples, on which silica is deposited by hydrolysis of tetraethoxysilane to produce SiO2/Ru/CNT. Finally, the confined Ru nanoparticles are obtained by burning the CNT template in air. This method is very selective and should be extendable to many metal nanoparticles.
