The cover picture shows a “wheel” that is composed of (1) a flexible tridentate metal-chelating site, (2) two parallel arene moieties that have potential for aromatic π–π stacking interactions with the aromatic part of the axle unit, and (3) a bis-amide functionality that can engage in hydrogen-bonding interactions with the suitable functional groups on the axle. The metal ion coordination and other two noncovalent interactions are operative simultaneously to obtain the maximum benefit of the templating strategy in the formation of the pseudorotaxane.
