EurJIC–Wöhler Young Investigator Prize Goes to Dorota Koziej
It is with great pleasure that we announce Dr. Dorota Koziej as winner of the 2015 EurJIC–Wöhler Young Investigator Prize for her excellent publication "Puzzling Mechanism behind a Simple Synthesis of Cobalt and Cobalt Oxide Nanoparticles: In Situ Synchrotron X-ray Absorption and Diffraction Studies" (Chem.Mater. 2014, 26, 2086–2094). Dr. Koziej is currently team leader in the Laboratory for Multifunctional Materials, Department of Materials, at ETH Zürich, Switzerland, a position that she has held since 2011. Her research interest lies in the development of inorganic nanoparticle synthesis for energy-related applications, with a focus on mechanistic studies by in situ methods.
Dr. Koziej obtained her Doctor of Science degree in the frame of the Joint Doctoral Degree Project of the EU Network of Excellence (GOSPEL) from the University of Tübingen, Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Germany, and from the Silesian University of Technology, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics Gliwice, Poland. After holding a post-doctoral position in the group of Prof. Markus Niederberger at ETH Zurich, she received a Swiss National Foundation Fellowship to work in the group of Prof. David Weitz at Harvard University, School of Engineering and Applied Science, USA.
