EurJOC Lecture at ORCHEM 2014

EurJOC Lecture at ORCHEM 2014The 2014 EurJOC lecture was presented at ORCHEM in Weimar. ORCHEM is the biennial meeting of the Liebig-Vereinigung, the organic division of the GDCh, which is a member of ChemPubSoc Europe. Professor Helma Wennemers (ETH Zürich) was awarded the EurJOC lectureship for 2014, as selected by the Editorial Board of EurJOC in conjunction with the Editor. The lecture, titled ''Bioinspired Chemistry with Peptides'', focused on the use of peptides as asymmetric catalysts, an area of research that Professor Wennemers has made significant contributions to. This is the second time that a EurJOC lecture has been presented at ORCHEM, the previous awardee was Véronique Gouverneur (University of Oxford) in 2012.

20th Anniversary of CINMPIS

20th Anniversary of CINMPISThis year is the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the National Interuniversity Consortium for Innovative Methodologies and Processes of Synthesis (Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale sulle Metodologie e Processi Innovativi di Sintesi, CINMPIS, Bari, Italy), which represents a network of fifteen Italian universities and their research groups involved in organic synthesis. The central aim of the consortium is the development of advanced research oriented mainly to the synthesis of bioactive compounds, the advancement of young researchers through the distribution of research fellowships, and the dissemination of results through the organization of conferences and workshops.

To celebrate 20 years of successful activity, the board of directors invited CINMPIS affiliates to submit papers for publication in EurJOC with a dedication to the consortium. The papers will appear in the journal starting from the first September issue.

Prof. Alberto Brandi (Director, CINMPIS)
