    The Internet of Things comes with an explosion of devices with different technologies and capacities. Network scan was a trivial matter in IPv4 but is a big challenge in IoT heterogeneous networks coupled with IPv6. Our approach relies on round-trip time measurements and scan properties (probing speed and probe size) to distinguish 802.15.4 networks and therefore increase the discovery rate with a reduction of the scanning duration.

    We propose a software-defined networking-based Cloud Radio Access Network (C-RAN) architecture managed by C-RAN controllers, which are integrated with a virtualization controller that is crucial for core/backhaul network sharing of the proposed next generation cellular network architecture. We further provide a use case study of shared mobile architecture for channel-aware remote radio head assignment to multiple mobile network operators with 2 C-RAN-aided cooperative algorithms.

    This paper proposes SDN-Guard, a management approach designed to take actions to protect software-defined networks against deny of service attacks based on alerts generated by an intrusion detection system (IDS). Results show that it succeeds to reduce the control plane congestion, the controller load, and the usage of switches' forwarding tables during deny of service attacks. Furthermore, the paper investigates reducing the traffic mirrored to the IDS using traffic sampling and a linear program to optimally place the IDS in the network.

    On the basis of this study, we define a novel and exhaustive taxonomy of trust management and reputation approaches proposed for cognitive radio networks that takes into account different trust management and reputation properties and approaches. The new classification aspects are the following: network topology, detection strategy, trust computation, and spectrum management.
