A leapfrog formulation of the 3-D ADI-FDTD algorithm

We introduce a new, alternative form of the 3-D alternating direction implicit finite-difference time-domain (ADI-FDTD) algorithm that has a number of attractive properties for electromagnetic simulation. We obtain a leapfrog form of the time-advance equations, where the E and H fields are staggered at half-integer and integer time steps, respectively, that preserves the unconditional stability of the ADI-FDTD method. An analogue model of the memristor

Recent advances in space-mapping-based modeling of microwave devices

We review the latest developments in space-mapping-based modeling techniques with applications in microwave engineering. We discuss the two techniques that utilize a combination of standard space mapping and function approximation methodologies, in particular fuzzy systems and support vector regression (SVR). In both cases, the initial space-mapping model is enhanced by an additional term that approximates the differences between the fine model and the initial space-mapping surrogate. A high-order discontinuous Galerkin method with time-accurate local time stepping for the Maxwell equations

We present an explicit numerical method to solve the time-dependent Maxwell equations with arbitrary high order of accuracy in space and time on three-dimensional unstructured tetrahedral meshes. The method is based on the discontinuous Galerkin finite element approach, which allows for discontinuities at grid cell interfaces. The computation of the flux between the grid cells is based on the solution of generalized Riemann problems, which provides simultaneously a high-order accurate approximation in space and time.Read the entire abstract.

Numerical analysis on thermal characteristics for chip scale package by integrating 2D/3D models

The objective of this paper is to investigate stress and strain of a special scale package-substrate on chip for reliability evaluation or manufacture strategy in deep-seated situation. A two-dimensional model with one-half of cross-section (2D model) and a three-dimensional model with one-fourth of whole package (3D model) were built, respectively, to simulate the thermal stress and strain of CSP-SOC under the condition of the standard industry thermal cycling temperature -40 to125°C.
