Inside Cover: Antimicrobial, Hemolytic, and Cytotoxic Activities of β-Peptoid–Peptide Hybrid Oligomers: Improved Properties Compared to Natural AMPs (ChemBioChem 10/2010)
The inside cover picture shows cationic antimicrobial biomimetics with an alternating β-peptoid–peptide backbone, which showed activity against a wide range of microbes in vitro. The best compounds exhibited low mammalian cell toxicity and extremely high stability towards enzymatic degradation. Xenopus laevis, the original source of the cationic α-helical antimicrobial host–defense magainin peptides is shown in the background. For more information, see the communication by C. A. Olsen et al. on p. 1356 ff.
