Editors / Redaktionsleitung

Peter Gölitz has been the Editor of Angewandte Chemie since 1982. He joined the publishers in 1980 after he earned his PhD in organic chemistry from the Universität Göttingen (Germany) with Armin de Meijere in 1978 and spent time as a postdoc at IBM in San José, CA (USA) and the Universität Hamburg (Germany). He is the Founding Editor of Advanced Materials, Chemistry—A European Journal, ChemPhysChem, Chemistry—An Asian Journal, and ChemCatChem, among others. He received an honorary doctorate from the Universität Basel (Switzerland, 2011), the German Chemical Society's Gmelin–Beilstein Memorial Medal (2000), and the French Chemical Society's Medal in 2005.
Neville Compton (Deputy Editor) obtained his PhD from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (UK) working with Nick Norman and John Errington on transition-metal bismuth chemistry. In 1990, he went to the Universität Heidelberg to do postdoctoral research with Gottfried Huttner and then joined the Angewandte Chemie editorial team in 1992. He became Deputy Editor of Angewandte Chemie and Chemistry—A European Journal in 1997, and subsequently Editor of Chemistry—A European Journal in 2002 and of ChemPlusChem in 2012. In 2005/2006, Neville worked closely with members of the EUCheMS publication ethics committee on formulating the Ethical Guidelines for Publication in Journals and Reviews adopted by the ChemPubSoc Europe family of journals.
Haymo Ross (Deputy Editor) studied chemistry at the Technische Universität Braunschweig and the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, where he obtained his PhD in organic chemistry in the group of Ulrich Lüning in 1997. In the same year he started at Wiley-VCH in the editorial team of Angewandte Chemie. He became Deputy Editor in 2000 and temporarily (2001–2003) acted as Journal Manager of Advanced Synthesis & Catalysis. He is also the Editor of the European Journal of Organic Chemistry (since 2003) and Co-Editor of ChemistryOpen (since 2011).

Angewandte Chemie enjoys the input and advice from an Editorial Board (Kuratorium) as well as an International Advisory Board (see below). Editorial Board members are appointed by the Board of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (German Chemical Society, GDCh). They advise the editors on the content and presentation of the journal and elect members if the International Advisory Board.
