The cover picture shows the application of IR thermography for screening of catalytic activity in combinatorial libraries. This application is based on the change in emission of IR radiation due to the heat of reaction, represented here by the Planck formula for blackbody radiation. The upper part of the picture depicts the heat of reaction for the oxidation of isooctane with air on different heterogeneous catalysts in a library. The lower part shows the different evolutions of homogeneously catalyzed enantioselective hydrolysis of epoxides.
