Magnetic nanowires are among new objects that chemists can design with a view to magnetic information storage. The cover picture shows views of an ordered bimetallic double chain of iron(iii) and cobalt(ii) ions, bridged by cyanide groups. Each chain has remarkable anisotropic magnetic properties (axes of easy magnetization are shown) and shows slow relaxation of the magnetization.
