Chiral magnets exhibit two important optical properties: intrinsic optical activity and the Faraday effect. Two-dimensional chiral magnets reveal these effects at higher critical temperatures than their one-dimensional counterparts. On page 4810 ff., K. Inoue and co-workers describe the structure and magnetic properties of such a chiral molecular magnet in which MnII and CrIII ions are shown to interact ferrimagnetically; the magnetic transition occurs at 38 K.
