Cover Picture: Topochemical Photodimerization in the Coordination Polymer [{(CF3CO2)(μ-O2CCH3)Zn}2(μ-bpe)2]n through Single-Crystal to Single-Crystal Transformation (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 15/2005)

44_15/2005Railroad polymers are one-dimensional metal coordination polymers that form a molecular ladder structure. The cover picture shows such a structure, comprised of Zn–(4,4'-bipyridylethylene) units, which undergoes [2 + 2] photochemical cycloaddition across the rails to form another 1D coordination polymeric structure accompanied by quantitative single-crystal to single-crystal transformation. For more details see the Communication by J. J. Vittal and co-workers on page 2237 ff. (The cover picture was designed by Bellam Sreenivasulu.)
