A kinetically controlled approach to metallosupramolecular assembly has been demonstrated by P. J. Lusby and co-workers in their Communication on page 4194 ff. By exploiting asymmetric cyclometalated platinum corner units that possess both labile and nonlabile cis-coordination sites, trigonal prismatic stereoisomeric architectures have been selectively prepared by altering the sequence of addition of molecular structural components using a template-free method.
