In the Comunications section, M. G. Kanatzidis et al. describe an intermetallic semiconductor with a non-centrosymmetric structure and the chemical formula EuIr4In2Ge4 (see picture). S. Kobayashi et al. present a method for the effective formylation of amines with CO2 and diphenylsilane, and B. Han et al. point out that porous zirconium–phytic acid hybrids are highly efficient catalysts for Meerwein–Ponndorf–Verley reductions.

Enterobacterial common antigen relevant for immunotherapy chemically synthesized
Immunotherapy using monoclonal antibodies is a promising treatment strategy, and it might now be within reach: American scientists have successfully prepared an oligosaccharide enterobacterial antigen for which a monoclonal antibody has been developed. The study is published in the journal Angewandte Chemie.
