| I have been asked to review a manuscript but my to-do list in mXp/OSM is empty? It takes up to 30 min for the system to update the server after the request was launched. Should the problem persist after more than six hours please contact the Editorial Office by mail to pss@wiley-vch.de. Back to top | |||||||||||||||
| The status information for my manuscript in mXp/OSM still says "Submitted". Has it been sent to the reviewers? Submitted manuscripts are handled promptly by the Editorial Office. The automatic information system does not have a status "At reviewer", therefore the status will remain "Submitted" until you receive an editorial decision with the reviewer reports by e-mail. | I cannot find my manuscript on the personal user homepage (yet or anymore). What happened? There are several possible reasons. Your submission may have been made very recently. Please allow up to 30 min (occasionally longer) for the server to update the system in that case. Alternatively, the editorial process may have been concluded with a rejection of the paper and the e-mail messages informing the corresponding author did not arrive. Rejected papers are deleted from the manuscriptXpress user homepage. Then please contact the Editorial Office by mail to pss@wiley-vch.de. Back to top | |||||||||||||||
| Citation formatting: What is the correct spelling and bibliographic abbreviation for pss? In 2009, pss has adopted the bibliographic abbreviation 'Phys. Status Solidi' in order to comply with international standards. The traditional abbreviation 'phys. stat. sol.' should no longer be used, even when older articles are cited.

| Must I use a style template for my manuscript and if yes, which one? Template packages for Microsoft Office Word and LaTeX are available for download in the For authors section. All article types (Original Paper, Feature Article, Contributed Article etc.) in all four pss journals ((a),(b), (c), (RRL)) use the same template.

| There is a problem with English language usage in a manuscript, what should I do? Authors for whom English is a second language may choose to have their manuscript professionally edited before submission to improve the English. A list of independent suppliers of editing services can be found at authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor/english_language.asp. Japanese authors can also find a list of local English improvement services at http://www.wiley.co.jp/journals/editcontribute.html. All services are paid for and arranged by the author, and use of one of these services does not guarantee acceptance or preference for publication. If the level of English in a submitted manuscript seems insufficient for peer review, the Editorial Office may ask authors for revision and improvement before passing the work on to reviewers. Reviewers should mention language problems in their report, but try to evaluate the scientific content independently if feasible. Language and text corrections are welcome, but not required. Accepted manuscripts which require severe language polishing will be sent to native English speakers for copy-editing prior to publication. Back to top | |||||||||||||||
| Errata: I found a mistake in my published article. How can I correct it? You may submit an Erratum, a brief manuscript which references the erroneous passages of your article and presents a correct version, via the online submission system manuscriptXpress. Please mention the manuscript number (DOI) of the published article in the cover letter upon submission. It is not possible to correct or remove once-published articles from the print or online content archive of the journal. Given well-justified circumstances however, we may publish an article retraction or authorship withdrawal notice, or an editorial note referring to a published article. If this is deemed necessary, please contact the Editorial Office for details. Back to top | |||||||||||||||
| Comments: What if I want to publish a Comment or a Reply to a comment? You can submit brief manuscripts intended as Comments to existing pss publications via the online submission system manuscriptXpress. Please mention the manuscript number (DOI) of the published article in the cover letter upon submission. According to pss' editorial policy, the authors of the published article will be informed and given an opportunity to submit a Reply to the Comment. In addition, the editors may seek further advice from independent reviewers before deciding on the publication. Back to top |
